He was born in Alabama and was raised Muslim and is a fluent speaker of Farsi, as well as Standard and Levantine Arabic. He joined the US army shortly after 9/11 and is known to have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. At some point, he successfully joined the 5th Special Forces group. He became acquainted with Nathanial Cunningham in Iraq professionally and wrote a letter on Cunningham's behalf contesting his discharge. The two became and remain close friends since. Jason continues to serve, and is now an SFC, though he generally does not comment on his specific duties and role. |
